The Top Five Lies Indoor Saffron Farming Trainers Tell

There is no doubt on the exponentially growing business opportunities with indoor saffron farming in India, and just like any other high demand and lucrative opportunity, there are always misguiding and unethical elements that emerge in the ecosystem. Indoor Saffron farming is not an exception. Based on our first-hand experience and data driven research (after talking to several enthusiasts, growers, and trainees), we have listed the top five lies that Indoor Saffron Farming Trainers tell to sell their training programs so that you are not misguided, and fall in their trap. The idea is not to discourage anyone, but to make you more aware so that you become successful and achieve sustainable growth, because that is our mission.

  1. “Guaranteed Success in One Season”

The Lie:

Most of the trainers promise and boast about achieving profitable yields of lakhs of rupees within the first season of following their program.

The Truth:

Just like any other business, Indoor Saffron farming and cultivation is not a “get-rich-quick” scheme. You need patience, right knowledge, hard work, and support to make this business profitable, which will happen gradually. New growers must not get too influenced with this false information and be misled.

  1. “False claims on practical experience”

The Lie:

Most trainers claim that they have many years of experience in growing Saffron and they are making 5 lakh or 10 lakh rupees a month from a 100 sq. ft. room.

The Truth:

Most trainers only have a small setup of one room and have never done all the stages like bulb multiplication themselves, but they claim many years of experience. The truth is, they just grew it once or twice, and marketed themselves with nice pictures, and never sold saffron as a business. They have very limited knowledge which is mostly theoretical and partial. This leads to wrong, ambiguous, confused and struggling state when you will start growing it. Aspiring saffron growers must do the check on the setups and produce of these trainers. Ask them to show their farm and where they multiply seeds on video calls before paying money for training.

  1. “You Don’t Need Prior Experience”

The Lie:

Most of the indoor Saffron farming trainers assert that no prior agricultural experience is necessary to succeed in saffron cultivation.

The Truth:

While it’s true that anyone can learn, prior experience in agriculture significantly increases the chances of success. Even if you can get a few pots of flowers and vegetable plants, and spend even one season with them, you will learn a lot about pants, their growth, diseases, and how to take care of them. Understanding plant biology, pest management, and soil health is crucial. Training programs may provide foundational knowledge, but hands-on experience is invaluable. It is highly advisable for beginners to start with smaller setups and seek mentorship from experienced growers.

  1. “High Yields with Minimal Effort”

The Lie:

Some trainers make sweeping claims about achieving lakhs in profits with little labor or management required.

The Truth:

Just like any other business, and work, Indoor Saffron farming requires diligent care, from preparation to planting to harvesting and drying. While relatively it is low-maintenance crop, the reality is that successful farming demands consistent effort and attention to detail. Unless you have learnt all the cycles well along with do’s and don’ts with proper guidance from experienced growers, you will not achieve the desired results.

  1. “You only need a 100 sq. ft. room to make lakhs every month”

The Lie:

A common assertion is that only 100 sq ft room is sufficient to earn a few lakhs every month.

The Truth:

Every trainer has made this video on YouTube claiming you can make lakhs of rupees every month from a small room in your house. As soon as you see such claims, you must run away from these people. The reality is, you will need roughly 10 times more space than the cold room for bulb multiplication for 8 months in a year. Also, to earn lakhs of rupees a month, you need a long term planning with reinvesting and working patiently.

Conclusion

While saffron training programs can offer valuable insights and skills, it’s essential to approach them with a critical eye. Understanding the realities of saffron cultivation and being wary of exaggerated claims will empower aspiring farmers to make informed decisions. Always conduct thorough research, seek recommendations, and consider the long-term commitment required to succeed in this unique and rewarding agricultural venture. With the right knowledge and mindset, you can turn your saffron dreams into a sustainable reality.
